Rangers fans hammer Steven Davis as Steven Gerrard’s men suffer 2-1 Hearts defeat

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to hammer Steven Davis, following the 2-1 defeat to Hearts on Sunday afternoon.

Steven Gerrard’s side took the lead thanks to Ryan Kent’s excellent finish, although they were pegged back by former Everton man Steven Naismith in the second half after a mistake from Glen Kamara, who also felt the wrath of some Rangers fans for his dire showing.

The Gers then allowed Hearts to turn the game around as Liam Boyce netted an 83rd minute winner to hand Hearts all three points, leaving Gerrard’s side five points behind Celtic after Neil Lennon’s men recorded a 3-0 win over Ross County on Saturday.

The loss means that Gerrard tasted defeat in his 100th game for the club, and also puts an end to Rangers’ six-game winning run and seven-game unbeaten streak.

In Davis’ case, the 35-year-old was making his 17th Scottish Premiership appearance of the campaign, and while he didn’t do anything specifically catastrophic, he definitely didn’t look at his best.

Let’s see what the Rangers fans on Twitter have been saying about his performance…

To kick off the reaction, these two supporters took aim at the former Southampton man.

Oliver said that Davis “can’t have had many worse games” in his career, whereas ‘The Blueprint’ said that they don’t think they’ve seen the 107-cap Northern Ireland international “have a poorer game in a Rangers jersey”.

Elsewhere, these two fans both used the word “truly” before their adjectives to emphasise just how bad Davis was against Hearts.

Alan said that the midfielder was “truly terrible” whereas John described the performance as “truly horrendous”.

Meanwhile, ‘LH72’ said that Davis “shouldn’t be seen in the first 11 for the next few games” such was the terrible nature of his showing.

Lastly, Luke said that the Irishman “needs the Berra treatment” in what seems to be a reference to Hearts’ treatment of Christophe Berra, an old, experienced player like Davis who was thrown on the scrapheap by David Stendel and told that he would never play under him for no apparent reason – very harsh indeed from this supporter.
