According to , the German giants were mulling over recruiting the 23-year-old following winger Kingsley Coman's serious knee injury that left them short on the flanks. However, the Bundesliga outfit decided to fast track the move to bring in Bryan Zaragoza from Granada, meaning he joined them on loan before linking up with them permanently in the summer – as was previously agreed.

Mudryk has struggled since signing for Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk for £89 million ($112m) in January 2023. The Ukrainian international has scored just four goals and bagged a paltry four assists in 41 appearances for the west London outfit. Furthermore, he is sometimes finding starts hard to come by.
