Western Australian Cricket Association07-Jan-2002Earlier today at the national under 17’s Championships in Melbourne, WAcreated a new record score for a WA team competing at the NationalUnderage Championships.Playing against the Northern Territory at the Preston CC in Melbourne,WA scored a mammoth 3-432 from 74 overs after they were earlier set 341to win. WA easily passed the NT total with 12 overs and seven wickets tospare.The total surpasses WA’s previous record score of 8-423 set at the1988/89 Championships.The highlights of the WA innings were centuries to Theo Doropolous 151(154 balls), and Ryan Phillimore 100no (74 balls), and scores of 78 toMatt Johnston and 70no to Rhys May.The WACA extends its congratulations to coach Jamie Snadden and ManagerDean Holder and all the team, and urges them onto more success at theNational Carnival.WA goes into tomorrow’s rest day in a strong position having won itsfirst two games. WA’s next game will be against the ACT following therest day on Wednesday.
